Several forthcoming conferences in China

I list several conferences in China in the coming months, deadlines of some are the end of January, just a few days later.

July 17 - July 19, 2014, Lijiang, China

The Summer Institute of Finance (SIF) will host its fifth annual conference from July 17 - July 19, 2014 in the beautiful city of Lijiang, China. The SIF Conference is jointly organized and sponsored by the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF) http://www.saif.sjtu.edu.cn and the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) http://www.ckgsb.com. A special topic session on Chinese Financial Markets will be held during the conference. We welcome submissions from all areas of finance.

The Fourth Chinese Capital Markets Conference - The European Journal of Finance

BUSINESS FORUM: A major business forum is organised as part of this conference with the participation of senior government officials, business leaders and eminent academics. The theme of this year's Forum is financial openness, financial innovation, regulation and governance in China.

OVERVIEW: Following the success of the previous three conferences, the organizers will host the 4th Conference on the topic of Chinese Capital Markets with The European Journal of Finance publishing a special issue of selected work. The conference will be held in Ningbo, China and is organized by the University of Nottingham and National School of Development at Peking University in China. The organizers invite submissions of high-quality and unpublished research papers addressing contemporary issues related to the Chinese capital market. Possible research areas include, but are not limited to: financial openness, corporate finance, asset pricing and valuation, corporate governance, financial innovation and market-based accounting research.

PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: In your submissions, please indicate whether you want your paper to be considered for publication in the special issue of The European Journal of Finance (EJF). By submitting a paper, authors are certifying (a) that the submission is original, unpublished work, (b) that in whole or material part it is not simultaneously under consideration elsewhere. All submitted papers undergo a peer review process before being accepted for presentation at the conference. Only one presentation may be made per author. Authors submitting more than one paper should ensure a co-author is available and willing to present the paper at the conference should it be accepted for presentation. All papers presented at the conference will be discussed and in turn, all authors accepted for presentation are asked to discuss a paper.

The First Annual Credit Market Research Conference in China: Recent Advances in Credit Research

Moody’s Corporation and Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF) are pleased to present “The First Annual Credit Market Research Conference in China:  Recent Advances in Credit Research” on May 17, 2014 in Shanghai, China. This conference aims to bring together academic experts and market practitioners from leading academic and financial institutions both in China and worldwide to discuss recent advances in credit risk research.

The conference invites submissions of research papers on the current issues in credit risk analytics, credit risk transfer instruments and the implications of credit risk for asset pricing, banking and corporate policies. Papers that are relevant to credit issues in China or to the wider Asia Pacific region are particularly welcome. Possible topics include but are not limited to:

Capital structure decisions for firms in emerging markets
Security design in credit financing and risk transfer
Credit risk scoring models
Pricing of credit instruments
Assessing credit risk in Basel III compliant bank securities
Credit risk assessment in real estate related debt
Assessing credit risk in the financial sector, both at an individual firm and system-wide level
Bankruptcy regimes and bond market development
All papers will be screened by the members of the scientific committee based on quality and relevance. Travel expenses and local accommodation will be provided for one author for each paper on the program. The conference will be held at the location of Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF), Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

All submissions should be sent to: credit-conf@saif.sjtu.edu.cn. Paper selection will be finalized by March 31, 2014.

The China International Conference in Finance (CICF) provides an open platform to bring together scholars worldwide to present research and stimulate exchanges on new development in finance. In the past eleven years, it has grown to be one of the prominent annual conferences in finance in the world. The next conference will be held from July 10 to July 13, 2014 in the beautiful city of Chengdu in Sichuan Province.


Papers in all areas of finance are welcome. The conference follows the format of major international conferences, with additional special sessions focusing on issues relevant to the financial development in China and other Asia-Pacific countries.


Authors are invited to submit completed papers. Papers will be selected by the Program Committee consisting of a panel of international scholars. Please submit your papers in electronic format (PDF files only) to:
