Trend Analysis

Needless to say, trend analysis is the key for successful trading, it plays an important role no matter for High Probability ETF Trading Strategies or for those mentioned Quantitative trading strategies. For instance, a few indicators for trend analysis are Relative Strength Indicator (RSI), Moving Average Trend Following Indicator.

INO trend analysis is a new service I subscribed recently including several technical data such as Last Hour Close Above 5 Hour Moving Average, New 3 Day High on Monday, Last Price Above 20 Day Moving Average, New 3 Week High, Week Ending October 30th, New 3 Month High in October, giving each indicators different scores and converting into a final score between +100 and -100, with 100 being a super strong up trend, and on the contrary, -100 being a strong down trend, 0 as no trend at all. For instance, a sample INO trend analysis I received today is:
HSBC HOLDINGS INC (NYSE:HCS.PR.B)
Smart Scan Chart Analysis confirms that a strong uptrend is in place and that the market remains positive longer term. Strong Uptrend with money management stops. A triangle indicates the presence of a very strong trend that is being driven by strong forces and insiders. Based on a pre-defined weighted trend formula for chart analysis, HCS.PR.B scored +100 on a scale from -100 (strong downtrend) to +100 (strong uptrend):
ino trend analysis for HSBC
ino trend analysis for HSBC table

NASDAQ COMPOSITE (E-MINI) Mar 2011 (E) (CME:QCN.H11.E)
Smart Scan Chart Analysis is showing some near term weakness. However, this market remains in the confines of a longer term Uptrend with tight money management stops. Based on a pre-defined weighted trend formula for chart analysis, QCN.H11.E scored +70 on a scale from -100 (strong downtrend) to +100 (strong uptrend):
ino trend analysis for NASDAQ
ino trend analysis for NASDAQ table

The scores are not surprising given the past performance of these two assets, I honestly think this service makes sense and help me make a technical trend analysis decision, indeed we can replicate the score system if we can get access to high-frequency data, such as to check whether last hour close is above 5 hour moving average or not.
